Higher Oak Farm is a small family run, natural farm offering free range chickens, eggs, honey and bakery products for sale in Cheshire.
Set in 16 acres of land between Manchester and Liverpool Higher Oak Farm care passionately about the provenance of our birds, bees and eggs.
The Robertson family believe in working in harmony with nature and trying to give all their animals as natural an environment as possible this way everything will taste Naturally Better!
At Higher Oak farm you will see their 400 hens roaming free and eating only natural organic food and a mix of grasses and herbs they pick up from the range. Their mix of breeds means they lay a mix of egg shell colours as hens naturally do.
They have an apiary of 10 bee hives which sit in a field surrounded by 2 wildflower meadows, a small orchard and a clover and grass mixed field. Higher Oak honey will taste different depending on the time of year they harvest. With the different flowers and raw materials used by the bees, taste and textures will be different with each of the June, July harvests then again with the main harvest in September.
Using their own honey and eggs they decided during lockdown to start tying some bakery products. They baked gorgeous brownies, cookies and custom cakes in batches then add them to their online shop. They sold on a first come first served basis and were never left with surplus.
With the success of the online shop, (eggs even getting sent to London regularly), and requests from locals, the Robertson’s decided to investigate how to open a small retail facility. When they came across Vending by JSR’s web page they were excited about the technology of the Lock Blox machines. Kirk Robertson even drove all the way up to Dundee to meet Stuart and see first hand what the machines could do. With the in-depth remote monitoring, Sales Data and remote diagnosis of the Vending Web to the state-of-the-art contactless payment terminal it was an easy decision to go for the Lock Blox over some cheaper options. The Lock Blox really represents their brand well. With offering top end produce from high welfare animals they wanted a machine of the same stature.
In early November 2020 the Shepherds hut was born. A 56 locker ambient Lock Blox egg vending machine was housed in a stunning Gypsy wagon on site, With ample off-road parking if your ever near WA13 0RG its well worth a visit. The Brownies are worth going for alone.
