Here at Vending by JSR we are no strangers to Egg Vending Machines. We started with the first egg vending machine in the UK several years ago. Operating a Roesler egg vending machine on our farm in Liff, later upgrading to the LockBlox vending machine. We have distributed many other vending machines to egg producers up and down the country so they can sell their eggs directly to the consumer. Machines as small as 16 lockers and machines with over 100 lockers predominantly selling eggs.
When the opportunity came to open a second egg vending machine in the town of Coupar Angus, we decided to go for it. Using a LockBlox vending machine consisting of 56 lockers in 2 different locker sizes. Smaller lockers to fit boxes of 6 and 12 eggs, and larger lockers to fit trays of eggs. We used a large wooden summer house to place the vending machine in and paired it with a coffee machine. Those living in and driving through Coupar Angus are now stopping in to get a takeaway coffee and their eggs when they are fresh from the farm. The vending machine has proven to be very popular with those in the town who are enjoying the quality of fresh free-range eggs. An upgrade on the eggs that were previously available to them.
Has it been a challenge to manage 2 egg vending machines simultaneously? Not at all. We have been able to manage both egg vending machines with the assistance of our online portal, ‘The Vending Web’. Using the sales portal, we are able to keep an eye on the daily sales of both vending machines. Once there have been substantial sales in both vending machines, we check what stock is missing in both machines, prepare the eggs, and then head out to refill both machines. This is a process that only takes us a couple of clicks and ensures there is always stock inside our vending machines. Customers are never arriving at the vending machine looking for our eggs, and leaving disappointed because we’re out of stock. Without the vending web portal, it would be almost impossible to predict when both machines are running low on stock.
