The way farmers and other food produces have been utilising our vending technology to create their own fully automated vending shop has caught the attention of the BBC West Midlands. Using fresh fruits produced by ‘Haygrove’, Ariana Davidson runs a roadside fruit stall just outside Ledbury under the name ‘Berrys Unlocked’. With an already popular fruit stall, Ariana decided it was time to expand and offer fruit to her customers 24 hours a day. Ariana contacted us here at Vending by JSR about her vision and we installed her very own Chilled Lock Blox Vending Machine just on site next to the fruit stall.
With the machine up and running, word was beginning to spread about the brand-new Fruit Vending Machine going on at Berrys Unlocked. BBC West Midlands caught wind of what was going on and decided to report on this, airing their interview with Ariana on the lunch time news. When discussing the JSR Vending machine, Ariana was quoted saying she now has the “24/7 aspect which is really popular as we don’t catch everyone between 9 (am) and 5 (pm)”. She went onto say “I can even track it (sales) on my laptop and see some people buying at 10 pm (and) 11pm at night”.
The BBC went onto air the Rural Affairs Correspondent, David Gregory, using the vending machine. Filming David selecting the product he wanted on the 15” touch screen, using his contactless payment method to buy the product and then the locker door opening for him to retrieve his cherry’s. David Gregory went onto state “There has been a big rise since then (the pandemic) in enquires from farmers asking company’s selling this technology if it could work for them. One day you might have a fully automated farm shop near you, or at least a vending machine on a farm, that is yet another essential revenue stream for the farmer”.
This has come not long after BBC West Midlands interviewed Vending by JSR Director Stuart Retson. BBC West Midlands were keen on finding out about the history of our business, what we are selling and how our machines have helped farmers and other industries generate extra income for themselves through the pandemic.
With times changing and more people opting to use manual automated services as their preferred shopping method. It is no surprise that the BBC and other news broadcasters have gained an interest in our industry leading vending technology. As more food producers and other industries are ordering our machines to sell their products, it may only be a matter of time before you will end up shopping at a fully remote vending shop near you.
